Do you want Sand or do you want some snow this Christmas?

General Talk About Vacations

Now here comes that White Christmas, you know the one that you have been waiting for.. Not for all of us? It would seem that lately people are more interested in the warmth that Christmas brings, not just to our hearts (Ahhh) but also to our bodies.

Baking in the sun seems to be the new thing at Christmas, so no longer is Snow the king of the Christmas period, soon it will be forgotten. The Christmas period brings with it offers on holidays across the world. But this time, the tourists of the world want to go on these warm holidays, instead of enjoying the snow. Christmas holiday sales are already up this year, and many of you are looking for locations like St Lucia or Barbados.

When you browse through these holidays, and where they are, you will be shocked at the cost, they are very cheap. The competition is out there and tour operators are doing what they can to bring prices down and offer us the best deals, to try and entice us into the Christmas holidays they have available. However what is it in particular that has made these holidays so popular, that people are trying to buy them, left, right and centre.

The whole world is warming up, and not many people like the snow anyway. Snow can be great for some fun times, but not for the warmth. As for how Christmas should be spent now, people just want that nice sandy warm beach and warm weather. The best option now is to take the family on holiday, this is a great present. Not many people will complain, and its easier to arrange than a Christmas at home.

So what are you doing this Christmas, maybe instead of Caribbean holidays, you could try Maldives holidays or Dubai holidays, they are still just as warm, and not too mention just as luxurious.

How you can get cheap car hire deals

General Talk About Vacations

With the state of the economy today, most people don’t know if they are getting the best deal or not. Many of us don’t want to do the extra work of “comparison shopping”. This is also true when renting a vehicle. Some things in renting a vehicle can be expensive but here are some suggestions on keeping the rental expenses down.

One way to save big dollars on car rentals is to reserve your car using internet sites. You’ll, more easily, be able to compare and use discounts than if going to the counter at a rental place.

You should always try to get a good bargain when you are renting a car. Car rental companies stipulate that you should return the car with a full tank. What you should do is fill the tank with the lowest priced gas when you are on your way to return the car. This will save you the high price the car rental company will charge if you return the car without filling the tank.

Stick to a single car company and continue engaging it for your car hire needs to the extent possible; you will stand to gain a lot as most companies treat their regular customers with supply of coupons, offer them discounts and free mileage, to retain them.

Always try to barter your soon-to-expire flyer’s miles with car rental miles to avoid unnecessary wastage of the former.

If you know now that you will need a rental car in the future, go ahead and make your reservation now. Many car rental companies give discounts to customers who reserve early. So, to save money, make your reservations as early as you possibly can.

To save money on your rental, you should pick your car up early. In the morning, just as the shop is opening, there will be a shortage on the cheap car rentals. Renters at this point may give you a free or marked down upgrade.

It is prudent to purchase packages in case you are looking for multiple deals such as car rentals, hotels, and air tickets since they offer better facilities at a cheaper rate.

When searching for a car rental to fit your travel budget, look for “name your own price” internet sites. These sites look for the best possible deal that exists within the criteria you specify. Proceed cautiously, however. Review the company’s history. Do not accept the first offer you receive. There may exist other, cheaper means. Before you close the deal, remember that once you make your reservation, it may be difficult or nearly impossible to cancel it.

If you plan on having the car for over five days it would be in your best interest to find weekly rates from the car rental, the last two days are almost always at a discount, something to think about for cheaper rates.

Everyone wants to save money these days and here is an easy way to save when flying. Pick up your rental car at the shop instead of the airport. This act will lessen the airport surcharges.

Top Things to do in Nerja Spain

General Talk About Vacations

Nerja may be one of the smaller and lesser known towns on the Costa del Sol in Spain, but it definitely has much to offer. Indeed, there are plenty of exciting activities you can try out if you spend your holidays in Nerja while staying at a great Nerja apartment. Here are some to get you started.

Explore Nerja Caves

The caves of Nerja are one of the town’s main attractions, which is why you should explore them during your holidays in Nerja. This complex of caves was discovered in 1959, although studies show that it has been in existence for millions of years. Here, you will see the world’s largest calcite column, remarkable stalactite and stalagmite formations, several paleothic wall paintings and skeletal remains displayed in glass cases throughout its various halls, though most of the artifacts unearthed in the cave are displayed in the museum outside. You can even catch a concert or a ballet at one of its halls.

Watersports at Burriana Beach

It goes without saying that one of the things to do in Nerja is to relax or have a splash at its idyllic beaches. In fact, many tourists rent apartments in Nerja just for this purpose. The most popular beach is Burriana Beach, which is also the largest in town, as well as the most commercialized. This means that you can easily find sun beds, palm umbrellas, shower facilities and restaurants on this beach or take advantage of its watersports centre and go surfing, jetskiing or scuba diving.

Enjoy a Stroll through the Balcony of Europe

The Balcon de Europa or Balcony of Europe is a wide palm tree-lined promenade built on the site of a 9th century fortress. If you want to enjoy the most stunning views of the city or the ocean, or catch glimpses of the surrounding mountain ranges and even the coast of Africa on a clear day, there is no better place to go to than here. You can also stop by the El Salvador church, dine at one of the fine restaurants on the Balcon or hire a horse-drawn carriage from here to see the rest of the town.

Visit the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary

Donkeys are known for being stubborn but they can also be loving, as you will see when you visit the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary, one of the things to do in Nerja. You will also see some mules and horses here, and even some dogs and goats. For a truly unique and rewarding experience, lend a hand at feeding, grooming and even walking the animals. You can even adopt one of the donkeys for a year by making a contribution to help out.

Nerja at Night

Even at night, you can still have a lot of fun in Nerja. No matter where your Nerja apartment is, you’re sure to find a bar, pub or restaurant nearby where you can eat, drink, dance, socialize or even watch a flamenco show during your holidays in Nerja, although for the best of the nightlife in Nerja, you will have to make your way to Plaza Tutti Frutti and Antonio Millon where the parties go on until around four in the morning.

Learn Spanish

There is no better place to learn the Spanish language than in Spain, which is why you will find many language centers all over the country, even in Nerja. Most centres offer classes for different ages, with both beginner and advanced courses, and the best part is that they often offer excursions to the nearest cities and attractions so you can practice your Spanish while seeing some of the best sights around, so make sure you take advantage of this opportunity during your holidays in Nerja.

Indeed, you will find plenty of things to do during your holidays in Nerja and if you want a change of pace or scenery, you can always travel to the amazing attractions nearby. These are all reasons to rent a Nerja apartment, which will surely allow you to have a great time and make the most of your vacation.

Gay Travel To Sydney - Excitement For All

General Talk About Vacations

Sydney is one of the world’s favorite cities. Set on a stunning harbor the shopping and dining variety are superb and you are within easy access of the great outdoors. Sydney was voted by the readers of Conde Naste in 2008. Sydney is a gay friendly city and its wide range of attractions encourages gay travel to this part of Australia.

The highlight of the gay and lesbian calendar is the famous Sydney Mardi Gras held in February each year. This event is popular with the non-homosexual population as well. People from all walks of life stand along the parade route and it is televised on commercial TV. During this time of year accommodation is tight, so do book early if you want to stay.

The beaches are endless and the best time to be here is from October to March, the Australian summer period. North Bondi is always a classic, but if you want to find a nude beach there are four in easy reach of the city center. If you are a little more energetic you can make the 30 minute walk from Bronte to Bondi to enjoy the coast.

The food side of life is well catered for and is complemented by a great cafe culture. The balmy to hot temperatures make outdoor dining possible and there is nothing better than sipping a glass of wine watching the water or people going by.

Oxford Street has been termed Sydney’s Pink strip and has a long established history. This is where the parade goes and where you will find shops, clubs and bars for the gay community.

Gay travel to Sydney, Australia should be on your list of travel destinations. Whether you want to attend the Mardi Gras, or sample some of the food or beaches the options are endless. Sydney is also a great starting place to explore the rest of the vast continent of Australia.

Don’t forget, though that other parts of Australia are also welcoming to gay travelers.  For example, consider an extended excursion to the gay destinations in Queensland, as well.

You Choose: Gay Tour Operators Or Straight And Diverse?

General Talk About Vacations

Traveling is something that requires a good deal of planning. Travel is one of the best  experiences any person can have, it is fun, relaxing, education and generally a way to  make friends for life. Some sightseers are not that fussy about what they see as long as  they have an organized tour or cruise to guide them, and there are gay tour and cruise planners which are able to meet your own specific requirements too.

Plenty of questions need to be asked when planning a vacation, questions like; what tour or cruise? What time of year and where to? As well as how to get the best possible tour for your travel dollar!

If you choose to take a tour or cruise, you also have the option of choosing your travel companions. Remember you will be sharing traveling space if you opt for a tour or cruise, so you have the right to decide whom you wish to share that space with in order to be comfortable.

Research is the only way to enjoy success, this entails finding out about the best options for you. People of any sexual orientation essentially go on vacation to relax, so explore the pros and cons of every possible option. Remaining within your own comfort zones is better for some people, while others may like the adventure of mixing with locals and other international tourists of all different ways of life.

In terms of singles, a gay and lesbian tour or cruise is more than appropriate because it is a way in which you are able to make friends for life. If you are actively seeking romance, vacationing with like-minded people certainly offers a better opportunity than it would if you were with a more diverse group.

The more diverse your choices are, the better your price options will be, and this is an important consideration. Flexibility and the willingness to mix with diversity allows the traveler to be surrounded by a potpourri of travelers and locals at your destinations, and also allows for bargains to be taken advantage of.

Whatever your decision on the type of tour, seek out a destination that will be welcoming of you.  A gay vacation to Costa Rica is becoming quite popular, for example.

Looking For Paris Hotels: Does Paris’s First Arrondissement Suit You?

General Talk About Vacations

You’re nearly there - Paris, the fabled City of Lights! You can hardly wait to arrive . You’ve gotten your cheap international airline ticket to Paris, France , now you’re trying to decide on some seemingly fantastic specials on a number of Paris hotels . What neighborhood you are staying in is always an important consideration for hotel accommodation in Paris, France even if you are looking at hotels in Paris city centre.  Here’s a guide to Paris’s 1st arrondissement so you can learn more about whether this area of Paris is where you want to be!

Paris: The First Arrondissement

Paris’s 1st arrondissement is filled with the sort of elegance and grandeur that centuries’ worth of tourists have imagined when thinking of Paris, France’s capital city. Refined boulevards, fashionable shopping , and well maintained parks overlooking the silken River Seine are all to be found in this arrondissement , a district mainly of office space and tourist sites. Les Halles, Paris’s unique take on a shopping center , can be found here as well.

What To Know :

What Is Good About The First Arrondissement :

Spending time in  the first arrondissement has many benefits. When you stroll beneath the 19th arches of the arcade Rue de Rivoli , you will be following in the steps of generations of dandies and duchesses: vanished remnants of Paris of a bygone era . You will be near some of Paris’s most exquisite tourist sites - the Tuileries garden to Chatelet -site of the Comedie Francaise, where Moliere once produced his plays - to the world renowned Musee de Louvre. And the shopping, on the elegantly understated Faubourg Saint Honore, is unrivalled!

Here’s The Bad :

While daytime here provides you access to some of Paris’s finest sights at a few moments’ stroll , the business-like nature of the area means that nightlife, by contrast, is limited within the arrondissement. So unless visitors go to the Les Halles/St. Denis area there’s not much to do. Les Halles/St. Denis’s low-budget pleasures may appear slightly seedy to tourists over the age of twenty-one (that said, the section bordering the Les Halles mall is very nice - a good place to stop after catching a film in Les Halles’s enormous cinema, which presents many US and UK movies in their original languages. But avoid going towards Rue St. Denis/Blvd. Sebastopol unless you’re consciously seeking that sort of milieu.) What’s more, this area can get very, very touristy - especially around the otherwise lovely Rue de Rivoli.  So watch your wallet and control your buying impulse for souvenirs until you’re a bit further off the beaten path.

What To Visit:
Sites and sights abound in the First. Take a walk down the Faubourg Saint-Honore, where nearly every great fashion house of the world has a store . Visit the Louvre or Tuileries Gardens near the Place de Concorde, see a play at the Comedie Francaise in the Chatelet area.

Where To Go To Eat :
Finding good French food is tough in this area, but finding outstanding desserts is not. Angelina, on Rue de Rivoli, has lost some of its former elegance, but the aging-grande-dame feel of the place makes the yellowed mirrors and creaky chandeliers worth seeing on their own merits. Plus, their famously rich hot chocolate and Mont Blanc desserts are among the best in Paris. For a more recent hotspot, Cafe Marley in the Louvre offers views not only of the museum’s art, but also of Paris’s current celebrity scene. For better food, the area right around Les Halles has a number of good brasseries, but, as said earlier, the area closer to Rue St. Denis and Sebastopol has a slightly sketchier character - not at all dangerous, but nevertheless unsavory.

Shopping Spots :
If the exclusive shopping of the Faubourg Saint Honore is a bit out of your desired spending range, go to the Les Halles mall. A surprisingly beautiful, art nouveau-inspired underground city (complete with street names, a swimming pool, park, and more), Les Halles proves that even Paris’s malls have a Parisian flair. While the area around the mall is useful for super-cheap (think 3-5 euro) clothes and shoes, the mall itself has much higher quality merchandise at pretty good prices.

Which drink is the most popular in the world?

General Talk About Vacations

Many people argue about which drinks are the best and the most popular in the world. Beer is by far the biggest selling alcoholic drink the world, no doubt about it, it’s not wine! So now that I have cleared up that the Beer is the king of all the alcoholic drinks, why don’t we all just sit down and look at what the popular drinks are in different countries, I have picked some randoms. So let’s start somewhere random then move onto some larger places:

Cuba is the place of cocktails. The Cuban cocktail country, is ready to divulge to you one of its most amazing drinks, that we all love called the Cuba Libre. Cuba Libre, this is a very easy and quick drink to make up, with only three ingredients, mainly Rum and coke, with a slice of lime. People really do seem to like this simple and easy to prepare drink. There is also the Mojito, loved by many tourists, but also all over the world.

Egypt, this is our next stop. Egypt is obviously much larger than Cuba, and many more holiday makers head here. Holiday Makers, just can’t resist Stella in Egypt. And for everyone reading this, no it’s not the traditional Stella Artois. It is in fact a beer with a 4.5%abv which is quite high for a gentle tasting beer. It is actually owned by Heineken and is brewed in a brewery called Alaham Beverages.

America is the big one. Anything that comes to mind? Probably not what you would presume, but the fastest selling beer is a Budweiser beer, but not Bud. Its Budweiser light. This is the alcoholic drink that is great for one and only one reason, that it doesn’t get you drunk very quickly. In the United States the beer, Bud is the second biggest seller, whereas its smaller version is the larger seller.

So are you seeking for Egypt holidays, Cuba holidays or how about something a little more unique like Maldives holidays, where you can invent your own maybe more experimental cocktail?

Great migration in Tanzania national park Serengeti

Other Family Vacation Options

If you are thinking of catching the February wildlife great migration in the Serengeti national park, now is the time to book.40 of our friends from around the world came to the Serengeti with us on our honeymoon. We came at the end of the second week in February which was ideal timing.
This is something that you must see for yourself the whole of the plains were crammed full of thousands of gnu and zebra’s it was the most spectacular sight I have ever witnessed my senses were tingling as I could see them migrate past me, the smell of wildlife added to the atmosphere and the sounds were over whelming with each animal calling out. In the morning light we watched the mothers around us giving birth, with only a brief moment to give birth some mothers had calves half in and half out as they had to continue with the herd.
Calves were born and from that moment the mothers are there encouraging them to stretch those awkward lanky legs, stagger to their feet and to move with the herd, as the mother knew staying with the herd will help their survival. Although it seems cruel to us it is natures way to trim out the weak, sick and aged animals for the survival of stronger and younger animals right in the midst of mothers giving birth to their young.
We went deep into the Serengeti where the scenery was spectacular, but the biggest concentration of game we saw was near lake Ndutu. Lake Ndutu is a beautiful setting that is surrounded by giant, flat-topped acacias, the Lake Ndutu shimmering in the sunlight providing precious water to the wild life as it migrates through the Serengeti.
We stayed two nights at Ndutu Safari Lodge which is quite small (I think we filled it) but was full of old style game lodge charm and is the only lodge where you can sit and watch the migration of the wildebeest as they give birth and feed on the grass. Upon leaving Ndutu Safari Lodge, Lake Ndutu and the Serengeti national park we found it was one of the hardest things we have had to do, our hearts wanted us to stay in Tanzania but we had to return home knowing that we will return to Africa and all of it’s wonderful splendour

Fabulous Group Halloween Costume Ideas – Inspired By The Movies

Other Family Vacation Options

german beer wench costume

If you are going mob handed to a party then you may want to coordinate your costumes into one theme. This will have a massive impact on other party goers when you arrive. Group costumes are also useful if you are going to a large venue so that you can spot each other in the crowd. Whatever your motivation, here are some group great halloween costume ideas .

I’ve seen this many times before but it still looks great. Go as Alex and his Droogs as seen in the movie a Clockwork Orange. This film version of the novel was voluntarily withdrawn from public screening in Britain by director Stanley Kubrick, for fear that people would imitate it. He was probably more concerned with the violent aspect of it but today people love to dress up as Droogs.

A Droog costume is relatively simple. A white shirt and pants, Doc Martens boots and a bowler hat.If you want to get into character then sup on a glass of milk and say some of the weird lingo they use.

In fact, you can get many great group Halloween costume ideas from films and literature.

How about D’Artagnan and the three Musketeers ? These are similarly themed costumes but each person can still have their own identity. A typical Musketeer costume involves a white puffy shirt, patterned tunic, pirate hat and a sword.See more on these outfits at renaissance medieval costume

Robin Hood costumes would also work. Tack on a Maid MArion and Friar Tuck costume and you have a range of costumes to go on.

TV shows and Super heroes can make excellent group themes. I have often thought that going as the trailer park boys would be an hilarious idea. And you wouldn’t be too hard pressed to do it either. If you like rum and coke then Julian is your man, Bubbles needs the big glasses and a few cheeseburgers for Randy.

If you really want to push the boat out then go as the Munster family. Frankenstein, Vampira, Dracula and werewolf costumes are the ticket for this group themed idea and it will sure make a great impact at your next party.
